• I wonder if this is standard WC behaviour: When a customer choses PayPal (included in WC) during checkout, gets forwarded to PayPal site, and abandons or cancels the payment process there, I still get an order created with the status pending.

I have lots of these, which messes up my order numbering and accounting.

Is there a way to change this behaviour, so that an order is only created when the paypal payment was finished successfully?

  • @florianbepunkt – yes, that is behaving exactly as designed. WooCommerce creates the order and doesn’t know if the customer will complete payment, so it creates an order and waits.

If you are seeing a lot of abandonment, I’d suggest switching to processing checkout directly on your site.

@anphira – thank you. is it possible to process paypal payments directly on the site?

@florianbepunkt yes. Your PayPal account needs to be of the correct type (I believe the charge is around $15/month), you need an SSL certificate, and you’ll need the PayPal Pro plugin.

@anphira Okay, I see. PayPal Pro is available in the US only.
