Paypal stopped working after update

Hi Mary, that’s a generic error message, so in order to troubleshoot the problem we need to figure out what specifically is going on.

Can you find the corresponding Attendee post and look at the CampTix Meta Log metabox, then click on the “data” link for any relevant entries, and then copy/paste them into a pastebin and link to them here?

Make sure you redact any sensitive information about your server/transaction/etc before posting it here.

There are about a dozen fails.
Each one’s entry in the Meta bit looks like this:

2013-08-04 10:28:59 Created attendee draft.
2013-08-04 10:29:19 Payment result for .
2013-08-04 10:29:19 Attendee status has been changed to failed

That is without removing any info.
The last successful attempt (which was 23rd of July) looks like this (I’ve put XXX where I redacted info but explained what it was):

Thanks Mary, can you click on the “Data” link for the “Payment result for …” entries, and post those? That’s where the details will be. Make sure you redact any sensative info from them too, though.

Hi, I’m not being funny but in Camp Tix Meta Log there is no link for DATA.

In fact, ther eis no, “Data” link on even the successful ones.

Let me be clear – there is no DATA link anywhere. If I view the annotated/longer info for attendees I can see that a TRANSACTION ID was not created.

Again, this started after the latest plugin update.

Mary, you’ll want to change your API password/signature at Paypal as soon as possible, and then update the CampTix settings with the new values.

still getting the error (payment method not working)

Since it works for you before the upgrade, I’d recommend removing 1.4 and installing 1.3.1:

Then, if you don’t already have one, you should setup a staging site to test out changes before you make them to the live site. That way we can troubleshoot the problem while your live site can still accept payments.

It looks like the problem is that the connection to PayPal is timing out. Does that happen with every checkout, or only on some of them? I’ve reviewed the changes between 1.3.1 and 1.4, but don’t see anything that seems to be the cause of that. Did you upgrade from 1.3.1, or an earlier version of CampTix? Did you upgrade WordPress or any other plugins at the same time?

I backed down to 1.3.1

the problem is that I updated wordpress and plugins around the same time
and it’s still timing out

i’ve contacted the service provider to try to investigate
i also gave them the core control stuff (redacting the stuff i failed to originally)

perhaps i’ll close this here for now until i can be sure it’s not the server (which seems strange as it occurred after upgrades but there’s no use taking more of your time – you guys are awesome and your plugin is seriously seriously appreciated & useful).
