I am receiving a message Contact Form 7 – PayPal & Stripe Add-on’ now uses the PayPal Commerce Platform. PayPal Standard is now a Legacy product.

How do I know if my account is on the PayPal Commerce Platform? I don’t see that information on the account.

Hi @terry777,

All PayPal accounts should already have PayPal Commerce enabled by default. This isn’t something that you should need to do anything regarding, it should just be a part of your account already.

Please let me know if you have any more questions or problems.

Thanks,
Scott

Thanks for the quick response. I have a site with version 2.2 of your plugin, and for some time I’ve been seeing the message:

Important – ‘Contact Form 7 – PayPal & Stripe Add-on’ now uses the PayPal Commerce Platform. PayPal Standard is now a Legacy product.

If you use PayPal, please update to PayPal Commerce Platform.

WPPlugin LLC is an offical PayPal Partner. Pay as you go pricing: 2% per-transaction fee + PayPal fees.

Should I ignore it? Also, I’m curious about the last line. Is there an additional charge on PayPal for using your plugin, or is that just part of the standard paypal fee?

Hi @terry777,

Sure, I can answer that for you. When our plugins switched from PayPal Standard to PayPal Commerce, we do now include a 2% transaction fee on top of PayPal fees for transactions processed through PayPal Commerce. This only applies to our free plugin, not our paid version, which has no additional fees. We did this because the PayPal Commerce integration required a significant amount of additional development work on our end to complete.

I hope this answers your questions. If you have any others, just let me know.

Thanks!
Scott

Thanks again. Will the message continue to be displayed?

Hi @terry777,

1. It should only be displayed on the PayPal page of the settings page. That message will go away after upgrading.
2. Since PayPal Standard is now a legacy product, we probably won’t be removing the message anytime soon since we do want to remind people to upgrade.

Thanks,
Scott

The message was displayed in 3 places that I saw, but I saw that I could close it, so I did.
