    Hello,

Fairly new WP and PMPro user here. We are a small charity in the UK and have had members set up Paypal subscriptions via Paypal buttons over the past few years.

I set up WP and PMPro live in January, importing our current membership with their Subscription ID’s payment frequencies etc.

Now Members are getting to the date of their renewal, Paypal is taking the money but then cancelling the subscription, both in PMPro and in Paypal. I can manually edit the PMPro info but obviously cannot reactivate the Paypal subscription.

A number of Subscriptions were cancelled when I did the import in January, since there was an issue with date format – the system read those expiring as 1st of the 6th (June) as 6th of the 1st (Jan) for example and promptly cancelled all of those subscriptions at Paypal, marking them expired, with no warning.

I now have new members setting up monthly and annual subscriptions via PMPro and I hope that I’m not going to have the same problem next year when their renewals fall due.

The imported accounts may have had an expiry date set on them, since we used that to issue a new membership card etc but the Levels I’ve defined in PMPro for Subscribers now have no expiry date.

Todays occurrence has a Transaction ID for todays payment, but that order is now marked as cancelled.

I have just noticed a Note on the order containing an [IPN} tag, if this is relevant.

Please assist, this is making the whole system unworkable!

    Hi @spannerz

I’m sorry to hear you’ve run into issues with Paid Memberships Pro.

This sounds like you had imported users with an expiration date as well as a recurring subscription. Here is a guide why this isn’t always a good idea – https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/important-notes-on-recurring-billing-and-expiration-dates-for-membership-levels/

Paid Memberships Pro sends out expiration emails around 7 days prior to the user’s expiration requiring them to manually renew in order to continue their membership. If you import with incorrect formatted or missing data, memberships and subscriptions may be cancelled prematurely. Please ensure you follow the requirements strictly.

It sounds like you have made the necessary adjustments for new members (by adjusting the membership level) to not have an expiration date. You can confirm that inside PayPal the subscription / pre-approved payment is setup correctly and ensure these user’s don’t have an expiration date. If the payment fails, their membership will be removed and they will need to repurchase.

Todays occurrence has a Transaction ID for todays payment, but that order is now marked as cancelled.

I have just noticed a Note on the order containing an [IPN} tag, if this is relevant.

We need more information regarding these orders.

    1. Was this for one of the imported members or a brand new order?
    2. If this user was imported, did they have an expiration date?

Any other information to replicate this issue may help us troubleshoot this further.

Hi @andrewza, can you help me?

    I have a similar problem.

I am using Paypal Express for payment.

When I use Paypal Sandbox to do the tests everything works perfectly.

But when we switch to the production environment Paypal cancels all subscriptions right after purchase.

The orders are created on Paypal and PMPro without any problems.

Paypal creates the subscription, but cancels soon after.

I can see all orders created and canceled in my Paypal account and in PMPro.

I need help urgently, because I can’t find the reason for the cancellations.

    Can someone help me?

    IPN message.
