PayPal support for WC Subscriptions

    Does this plugin support WC Subscriptions even if we don’t have reference transactions enabled? Auto Renewals are off by default.


    As per Paypal’s website no new customers can access this feature at the moment – are there other ways to use paypal gateway with wc subscriptions?

    Hi @digitalsuite,

    Reference Transactions are generally a requirement to be able to process subscription payments via PayPal. But PayPal is not supported for subscriptions in the Mollie plugin at this time because Mollie implements an old PayPal API with severe limitations in this regard.

    When Mollie updated the PayPal integration to the latest API, support for subscriptions will be revisited and eventually be included in the Mollie plugin. We can’t judge how long this will take, but Mollie is working on it as far as we know.

    At this time, the only PayPal integration for WooCommerce that can process automatic renewal payments without being enabled for Reference Transactions is PayPal Standard, which used to come with WooCommerce.
    While it technically still works, this integration is disabled by default on new WooCommerce installations and is no longer supported, though.
