Hi, I offer digital products (sheet music), including free sheet music, that can be downloaded via the Free Downloads WooCommerce-plugin. For several days the downloaded pdf-files cannot be opened any more. I can open the original file on my computer (iMac). When I load it up on my online shop and load it down again, I cannot open it back on my computer. This is exactly what happens to customers. The way in which digital products are created has changed at woocommerce. Maybe it has something to do with that. I would be very greatful for a solution for this problem. Best regards, Stephan

    Hi Stephen,

As we haven’t released an update recently the issue is likely related to the PDF/Upload Process/Server.

If you download the PDF from your site via the media library for instance, does the PDF work? Are you able to describe how you are uploading the files?

    Thank you

    Hi,
    many thanks for your reply.
When I download the pdf from the website (shop),
it cannot be opened on the computer. The download
via the media library doesn`t work at all. Other documents
like audios and jpg can be downloaded.
I have to upload the pdf-files directly from my computer?
to the product page. I cannot insert it from the media library.
    Best regards,
    Stephan

    Hi @stephanbecker

Thank you for clarifying. If the PDFs do not work via the Media Library then this suggests an issue with file permissions on your hosting as oposed to an issue with Free Downloads. Please speak to your host to see if they can assist with file permissions.

    Thank you

Hello, I have contacted my host. During their investigation, it turned out that the file names of the pdf files change due to the upload. This is probably why the files cannot be found during the download. The files that I upload via the media library can be downloaded from there and from the product page (shop). On the product page in the backend, I can only upload the files from my computer, but not from the media library. When uploading directly to the product page, the file name is changed from ‘solo Alle_Jahre_wieder Bra.pdf’ to ‘solo-Alle_Jahre_wieder-Bra-xkne8y.pdf.
How can I insert the file directly from the media library? That would avoid the problem. The design and functions of the Woocommerce backend have changed completely. Is it possible to go back to the old settings? Best regards Stephan
