Hello, I uploaded some PDFs yesterday to our website running Divi and I can only display hyperlinks, not small PDF previews way it used to. Scroll to bottom of page to see “2022 Holden Grant Reports presented November 2023“. WP says you haven’t updated compatibility with with my WP version 6.6.2. I uploaded PDFs through old Divi Media Library and put links into Divi text module. Should I have used Code Module? Texts used to work. Been awhile since I’ve edited the site with this plug-in but last I looked I thought I had other PDFs previewing OK. Not using block editor in Divi — is that the problem or am I missing something basic?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @gentian16,

    Thanks for reaching out!

When using a module based layout builder (such as ElementorWPBakeryDivi, etc), you need to use a Text, HTML, Raw Code, or Shortcode module to insert the PDF successfully.

This is because most of these drag-and-drop editors use their own proprietary method to access the Media Gallery, which breaks the automatic shortcode insertion by the PDF Embedder plugin. As such, you won’t be able to add the PDF via the widgets of these page builders. It will have to be added manually via shortcode.

To do this, I suggest keeping your Media Gallery open in another browser tab for convenience. Then follow these steps:

    1. With the layout editor, use a module that supports plain text, raw HTML, or code,
    2. Manually enter?[pdf-embedder url=” “],
    3. From your Media Gallery tab, select the PDF you want to embed and copy the File URL (https://a.supportally.com/i/n1eKBk)
    4. Paste the URL into the shortcode,
    5. Publish the page / post.

This method will add the required shortcode to embed the PDF so that the PDF will be displayed in the viewer on the front end of your site.

You can learn more about how to embed the PDFs via shortcode here:

    https://wp-pdf.com/premium-instructions/shortcodes/.

I hope this helps. Please give this a shot and let me know how it works for you.

    Thanks ??
