    Hi Menno,

first I wanna say thanks for your great plugin!

I just set up my first demo-displays and the problem I am facing is that the pdf-slides look blurry (no matter which hardware or browser I’m using). When I open the pdf in a pdf-editor everything looks good.

Do you have any idea how to fix this?

    Thanks,
    Tobi

    Hi @aiye89,

Foyer’s PDF feature relies on PDF to PNG conversion done by WordPress.

I can see that the resolution of your PDF pages after converting to PNG is 842 x 595 pixels, so that explains why it looks blurry on a 1920 x 1080 screen.

The only way to solve this is to increase the page size of your PDF before uploading. PDF pages that are 67,74 × 38,1 cm (26,67 x 15 inch) will result in 1920 x 1080 exactly.

What PDF size is output depends on the software you are using to create that PDF.

When I create a 16:9 presentation in Apple Keynote, then export it as PDF with ‘Image Quality’ set to ‘best’, then upload it to a Foyer PDF slide, the output image on the slide is exactly 1920×1080 pixels. So that’s perfect.

For Microsoft Powerpoint this is different I found, the Powerpoint default is to export A4 or Letter sized PDFs, meant for printing, not for screen usage. Maybe setting a larger / custom Slide Size in Powerpoint will help.. https://www.digitalcitizen.life/how-change-size-slide-microsoft-powerpoint

Or maybe opening up the PDF in Adobe Acrobat and changing the page size, if this is possible at all.

Hope this helps! And would be great to hear what works.
