PDF strange characters

    Hello,

    I have a password protected site, school teacher embedding PDF in posts.

    If I click in an specifi post the PDF renders ok, but if I see “Archives” or any page in the blog with more than one post, as all posts have a PDF embedded, some of them show strange characters. The strange thing is that if you click THAT post and you see it isolated, the PDF is totally ok.

    It only happens when more than 1 PDF are embeded in the same page, like Archives, or Category pages…

    don’t know what to do? it has to be with character encoding of WordPress?

    Most likely, it is due to this bug from the underlying pdf.js technology:

    https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/issues/5148

    The authors don’t seem willing to fix it directly, but we would like to add some workaround in a future release of the PDF Embedder plugin.

    Sorry for the inconvenience. I can’t offer a timeline at present, but it’s definitely on our list!

    Hello,

    I saw in your github link you published that some changes were done to fix it:

    “I just applied the patch to a newly forked version of pdf.js, and submitted the pull request. Hopefully this gets accepted and merged into the main project. Otherwise, you can check it out at https://github.com/tmarrinan/pdf.js”

    Is it fixed then? I would LOVE it fixed, as my students see the classes PDFs not properly :S

    Yes, I left some of those messages there myself trying to get things moving…

    Unfortunately it might still take a while, but I will certainly incorporate into the plugin when it is finally resolved. Hopefully it will be, although sadly the core development team didn’t seem to appreciate its importance!
