PDF Thumbnail image Magick?

I’m trying to use a plugin that generates an image thumbnail from the first page of a pdf document while insterting the pdf document on a page. I tried a few widgets, but it’s saying: “The ImageMagick extension must be loaded to generate PDF thumbnails.”

I don’t have access to my server and have no idea how to make this work. Is there a hack, or another way or widget available that does this?

Please note: I do know that I can upload my own image thumbnail for the pdf and link to the pdf download, but I have hundreds of files to do this to, and my client doesn’t know how to do that himself. Having a way to make it automated is ideal.
