Is there a possibility to embed a video in the description or allow it as a thumbnail?

The same question goes for a PDF.

I tried using a shortcode but it appears that shortcodes from other plugins are not allowed.

    Thank you,
    Larry

  • Dear Larry_Oqobo,

    Thanks for contacting us.

Please be kindly informed that, unfortunately, other shortcodes added to the description will not work properly.
Only HTML text formatting can be used in the title and description fields.
Hope that this information will help you to find a solution.

If you have other questions, feel free to ask them.
    Thanks

When adding supplemental images would it then be possible to add other media types such as PDF’s or video of the specific product?

    Thanks,
    Larry

    Dear Larry_Oqobo,

Could you let me know, please, do you want to add PDF or video as a product or as an additional information to the product?
We would like to know more details in order to be able to provide more sufficient answer.

    Thanks

Thank you for the quick response.

It would be great to add another media type for an individual product once they click on the button for ‘View Product’ as found here https://www.tbjinc.com/in-stock-equipment/.

I understand that you can add basic html with the details area. For developers/coders that is not an issue but for a novice user it could be cumbersome.

I also discovered that the catalog strips https:// from the image load for the catalog view. It also does this for the individual product view as well.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

    Dear Larry_Oqobo,

We completely understand that it is rather difficult to use HTML for novice WordPress users but, unfortunately, it would be too time-consuming and resourceful changing the whole structure of the plugin, because it is initially designed for adding images as products.

In the case, if you are willing to have some additional videos and PDFs, we can suggest you create the pages where these videoes and PDFs will be under different URLs and will serve as product details.

Thus, if you remove the word “default” from the “Product page custom link” field and add some custom URL then after pressing the “view product” button the page will be redirected to a URL where the video and PDF are added: https://prntscr.com/giyt3u

What refers to the https:// issue, then do you mean that the plugin overwrites image’s link and makes it http despite the fact that it is added as https?

    Thanks

When you try to go to https://www.tbjinc.com/in-stock-equipment/ it does not allow for a true secure connection. I assume it is because of how the images are passed.

When I remove the catalog from the page, the page becomes fully secure.

Let me know if there is a resolution for this.

    Thanks,
    Larry
