Earlier this week we moved our site to a new server for a hardware refresh and PHP update (exporting all content and databases, then importing) and ever since the update we’ve seen all of our PDFs generated through the plugin appear with “transparent” (or possibly white) text. The content is there, but the text is invisible — we can select it, copy, and paste it into a text document to confirm it’s the correct text.

We’re on 3.4.0 of the plugin, WordPress 6.1.1 (on Bitnami stack), WooCommerce 7.4.1, and PHP 8.1.13. There have been no errors logged that we’ve been able to identify. We’ve attempted deactivating and reactivating the plugin, removing and re-installing the plugin, and a number of the “Tools” menu actions including reinstalling fonts and updating the random folder. We’ve also manually confirmed that the folder is where it’s expected, that it’s writable, that the subfolders are properly generated, and that the fonts are in place. We’ve also ensured WordPress has 256M of memory available, and we’ve rebooted the server.

Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi @wreckingadm,

Are you 100% sure that you have reinstalled the plugin’s fonts, after clicking under WooCommerce > PDF Invoices > Status?> Reinstall fonts?button?

If so, could you send us a screenshot of your?System Configuration?and?Write Permissions, that you’ll find under?WooCommerce > PDF Invoices > Status?tab?

Thanks for the screenshots. There doesn’t seem to be any issues there.

I’m wondering if the issue is related to Bitnami. Was your past website setup with Bitnami also?

Yes, same Bitnami stack but now it’s on a much fresher release (PHP was 7.2.13). Is there an underlying PDF library that the plugin makes use of, which I can check to see if there’s an update needed?

One other change that comes to mind is that I previously had Imagick disabled, but it’s currently available for WordPress, in case the plugin uses that.

We have things configured to generate HTML rather than a PDF for the time being, so we can still print invoices to include with shipments, but the PDFs would be preferable. I also wanted to note that the PDF preview shown in the settings (which I realize is actually an image and not a PDF) does display the text properly.

    Thanks again!

Thanks for the information. Our plugin uses the DomPDF library.

The plugin also uses IMagick. There are errors sometimes with Bitnami ImageMagick configurations, though I’m not sure that’s apart of your issue here. If so, you’d need to update the configuration.

    Hi @wreckingadm,

Since we haven’t heard back from you in the last two weeks, we’re assuming you solved this issue, so I’ll go ahead and mark this ticket as Resolved.
