Easy Fancybox opens PDFs uploaded to the media library with no problem on my Mac. When viewing the page on a PC the PDF file opens in a new tab vs. the pop-up. I

Is there some extra code that needs to be added to the link to force PDFs to open in the pop-up on all platforms?

Tried latest versions of Chrome/Firefox/Explorer on PCs, all open the PDFs in a new tab. Same browsers on a Mac open in Fancybox.

  • It should behave the same on PC and Mac. Can you share a link?

    Sure, here’s a link: https://192.185.161.101/~approf1/rochester/for-job-seekers/tools/
Have tested it on 3 machines…

Tested first PDF link on Chrome, Firefox and Opera. All work fine… Maybe clearing browser caches?

Still not working on my PC after clearing caches. It’s on a multisite, but wasn’t network activated. Just changed that, but it didn’t seem to make a difference.

Strangely, it did work at first in IE, but after shutting down and reopening IE, the PDFs no longer opened in FancyBox. The more important thing is that it’s not opening for the client their office computers.

If I go through this list https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/easy-fancybox/other_notes/ is there anything you think I should focus on first?

    Thanks.

Before the plugin was network activated, I wasn’t able to see the options under Settings > Media. It was just a matter of checking “PDF” and now it works in all situations I’m testing in.

Problem solved, but thanks for taking a look at the page!

Strange… Network activated or site by site, the options on Settings > Media should be available on each site. Only the default settings are a bit different when network activated (disabled for all media) but otherwise there should be no difference.

Was this on the main site or a sub-site in your network?

It’s possible that I was on a networked site where I hadn’t activated the plugin yet. Since it wasn’t network activated until today, I may have just gone to the wrong sub-site to look for the settings.

When I went to Settings > Media and there were no options, the modals were opening, so I didn’t look into it further. Then was told they didn’t work on other computers. This included the PC I use for testing (I work on a Mac).

    Thanks again.

p.s. Since going through the settings, I see there’s an option for opening inline content, and see you have great instructions for it. Thanks for that!

When I went to Settings > Media and there were no options, the modals were opening, so I didn’t look into it further.

Can it be that on that particular site, FancyBox is already integrated by the theme? Be aware that that might cause conflicts with Easy FancyBox.

Please let me know if you run into this issue again. I cannot reproduce it but if it’s indeed a bug, I’d like to investigate further ??

Anyway, good to hear it’s working now and good luck with the network!
