pdo & pdo_mysql extensions

    I have a dedicated server running CentosOS6, PHP 5.4.20 and MySQL 5.1.72-cll with cPanel. I have numerous clients installs of WordPress. The majority I believe are 3.7 and higher.

    For another client I need to install the pdo and pdo_mysql extensions which I know I can do using easy apache and recompiling PHP. What I need to know though is whether this is going to affect the wordpress installations? I am also guessing it could affect certain plugins, so if this is the case what do I need to do to clear up any problems?
