I just did some testing, bought a product in my Woocommerce shop and found that my test user had been added in mailchimp. (Did not tick the box)

Does anyone know how to fix this please? Thanks

Hi @voodoochill, sorry to hear you’re having issues with the plugin, we definitely want to try to help out. Just to get a handle on the situation you’re experiencing, could you provide a few more pieces of information to help us understand the issue?

    – What plugin version are you using?
    – Are there any log errors in the plugin’s logs tab for the most recent day (when it’s set to standard or debug)?
-Do you have any caching plugins or services running?

Thanks in advance for these details. I’ll keep an eye out for your reply.

    2.3.5

There is a lot in the log, how would I know what is an error? (I can’t paste it here as it is full of people’s addreses)

    No

As you can see in the screenshot, one did tick the subscribe box and the other one didn’t but is still on the list

Oh, I see @voodoochill, that’s a basic function of Mailchimp and how the plugin works, not really an issue per se. When your store is connected customer data comes over to your Audience for all of your customers. If you click on that user that isn’t Subscribed they’re likely marked as Transactional if I had to guess.

You can send those Transactional users messages like Abandoned Carts or Order Notifications for example. If you don’t want those customers in your Audience, you could Archive them if you’d prefer.

Here in the plugin team, we don’t get into the day-to-day feature set of the Mailchimp app, but if you have more questions please reach out to their excellent customer service team via this support link. You should be able to chat with them and take things from there.

Thanks again for reaching out, let us know if there’s anything else we can do.

I just want people who actually sign up to receive emails, surely they already get notifications about orders from Woocommerce without the plugin.

Same here. Just the basic functionality of allowing the user to opt in for email marketing in the checkout right?

    Me too.

We really need to be able to disable this feature

We only want users that opt in to subscribe at checkout to be added to our MC audience

All other users are saved in Woo database along with their order

    Thanks

Please do not jump into other topics and detract from their problem. If the troubleshooting already posted made no difference for you, then, as per the Forum FAQ, please post your own topic. A lot more people will see your post, and that way you stand a good chance of getting the assistance you want. Despite any similarity in symptoms, your issue is likely to be completely different because of possible differences in physical servers, accounts, hosts, plugins, theme, configurations, etc. Thus one problem, on one setup is not indicative of the functionality and reliability of an application as a whole.
