I’m writing this to let the developers know that updating to the 3.0.x version of Yoast SEO severely broke the admin portion of my website. I had to downgrade to 2.3.5. Here are the issues I experienced:

    1. Performance issues – After the upgrade, the admin panel of my website became sluggish and it took a while for any of the post editing tools to load/appear. This issue resolved with the downgrade to 2.3.5.

    2. Access issues – After upgrading, members of the team were having issues accessing the admin panel of site at all. It would work, but after 3-5 clicks access would be shut down. Looking at the firewall logs (Sucuri web proxy) their IPs were being blocked for cross-site scripting. While I could whitelist their IPs, that would be a constant issue when they were traveling or if their home IPs changed.

I knew these were issues with the plugin, because the other site we have still used 2.3.5 and had no issues. Once I downgraded to 2.3.5 all of these issues went away.

I hope by sharing these problems the developers will work to correct them in future releases. Until then, I will not upgrade past 2.3.5 and I suggest that anyone looking to upgrade to test it first on a test/dev site to make sure it doesn’t cause the same issues as it did for me.

  • Hi guys,

same problem here – loading problems. I suppose it’s due to the live check of the SEO status.

Could you please let us decide in Settings whether we want the live check or not, please?

That would quickly solve the problem.

    Thank you,
    Peter
