    On upgrading from v4.2 to v4.4 I noticed a significant performance impact on some Admin areas of the site.
    Opening a WooCommerce product for editing would give 503 errors and take more than twice as long to load with this version.
    I have had to disable the plugin.
    It has also showed up in New Relic logs as a significant consumer of time.
    Can this be fixed please?

    Could you provide us with more details on the 503 errors that you are getting to see if we can pinpoint it to the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin?

    Server errors are usually described in more detail in the server error log. If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that occurred during that time period. If you don’t have access to your server error log, please ask your?hosting provider to look for you.

    If you or your web host cannot pinpoint the cause, please provide us with a copy of the server error log for further investigation. As server logs can cover a large amount of time, please limit the error log to a few minutes before you generated the error to a few minutes after the error.

    If the server error log does not contain any errors at the time of the issue, please enable advanced WordPress debugging with the code?here. This code requires that you change line 84 to point to a path on your server. Your web host can provide you with a secure path to save the error.log file.

    Michael,

    The 503 is just a symptom of the page taking too long to load.

    I have tested this on a local copy of the site and disabled all plugins except for Woocommerce and can confirm that page load times for a Product more than doubled with your plugin activated.

    I have tested my local copy of the site replacing your plugin with another page duplication plugin and have no issues when using that.

    My site is a large eCommerce, membership and eLearning site and so tends to be a bit slower than a very small site, so the issues are more apparent.

    However, I have just added your plugin to a small test site I have with almost nothing on it. I added WooCommerce and find that loading a product page is pretty much doubled in time when enabling your plugin. I’m sure you can set up a test site yourself with WooCommerce and replicate this. Note I had disabled all other plugins when testing this except for WooCommerce and yours.

    We tried this on a test site with a default WP TwentyTwenty theme and only WooCommerce and Yoast Duplicate Post as the plugins enabled, and when we checked on some product pages, they were loading just fine.

    We then enabled the Query Monitor plugin to check for any slow queries or actions, but were unable to identify any being caused by the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin.

    Unfortunately, without any more information such as the server logs or any error messages or notifications, it’s hard for us to diagnose this further, as it may be something specific to your setup and site.

    @mikes41720 Michael,

    Were you viewing the product pages as an admin for editing, not on the front end of the site?

    Do I need to set up a test site for you. It’s up to you, I am quite happy to use an alternative product for page/post duplication, but I am just trying to help you.

    This was when editing the product page as an administrator in the backend, as well as viewing it in the front end.

    If your site is meeting all of the necessary plugin requirements, and is on the latest version of all other plugins and themes, and if you are able to reproduce this ‘performance impact’ when performing a conflict check (with a default WP theme, and only WooCommerce and Yoast Duplicate Post as the plugins enabled), we recommend you open a bug report for the GitHub repository and include all necessary information.
