Permalink: -2 appended to link on page update; can't edit
-
I am using WordPress 4.4.1
Editing a site that was created July 2014.Permalinks are set to use postname
I just updated 4 Pages (added text to the body copy, and clicked ‘update’)
For THREE of the four pages, WP changed the permalink (appended -2 to it).
For ONE of the four pages, the page updated as expected. There are no pages in the trash.
I click “edit” next to the permalink and delete the -2 but it does not save this change; when I click “OK” the -2 returns.
Even though I see no “trashed” pages, it seems the original pages are still there somewhere – if I open a different browser and enter the old page url, I see a page but it’s incomplete: Just the image, and “leave a reply” (that is NOT what the page looked like before the update, I am sure.)
Anyone know WHY 3 of the 4 pages did this? I have successfully updated pages before. And in fact 1 of the 4 page updates worked fine in this same session.
