    Richard,
I had sent a response and didn’t realize I was responding to the ‘no-reply’ WP email originally. I tried responding on the other thread but since you had resolved it I’m guessing it never got to you. I thought I’d open up a new thread and see if I can get this figured out now that I have other fires extinguished in the insanity of life here! Here is the post to the other thread:

    Hi Richard,

Thanks for the response. Yes, I have the settings to have excerpts for the read more. An example of the auto generated permalink is: https://www.moroccoaccessibletravel.com/testimonial/eugene-patron/

They used to work and I just tried one after adding a review and it gave a ‘404’ and so I tried the rest and they all were broken links. I may revamp this and instead of them having an individual review page, going to a ‘master page’ of all of our reviews. Not sure if this is possible with Easy Testimonials.

Let me know if you have any ideas.

    Thanks!

That said, ideally I’d like to link to the individual full review from an excerpt and once there have a link that says “Read More Testimonials” which I think I can do without a problem by just building another page and adding that hyperlink. But what I am not seeing is where to go to find the “permalink settings page”. I have looked through all the settings tabs and am not finding it. Can you give some more specific instructions regarding it?

Interestingly enough, when I preview the testimonial prior to publishing it takes me to the site but once I publish it seems to break the permalink.

Thanks again for your great support Richard.

    Hey Jeremy @accessmorocco

My apologies for any delayed reply – I was out of the office for the past week and a half as my wife just had our baby!

Can you look under the Basic Options settings of our plugin and see if you have Show In Search checked? If not, can you try checking it? Once done, visit your WordPress permalink settings (found under Settings -> Permalinks) and click update to be sure those are refreshing. See if that makes a difference.

The page for our Excerpt settings is found at the following url from your website:
    /wp-admin/admin.php?page=easy-testimonials-display-settings

You could customize the Single Testimonial template (single-testimonial.php) to add a link to the All Testimonials page on your site. You can also output a View More Testimonials link using our plugin that may do something similar.

Can you let me know if that information is helpful?

    All the best,
    Richard

    Richard,

Not a problem at all! Congrats! That is very exciting. Enjoy this time. It is a challenge with lacking sleep for sure but a sweet time as a family.

As far as the permalink issue, I checked that box and we had it already checked but I unchecked, saved, and then rechecked it and then went to the settings and permalinks to update and had the same error 404 on all of the reviews.

Once I can figure out the specific page redirect with “continue reading” I’ll work on the “master list” of the “all testimonials”. I want to make sure that I am getting that broken link issue fixed as soon as we can. From their I can modify the list with shortcodes I think.

Any other ideas of what might be up with the 404 Error? I changed the titles of the reviews to more of a summary title rather than their name. Could that be messing with the permalink?

Let me know what you think. Thanks Richard!

Now looking through what I did, I am seeing that I changed the title of the review to reflect the content rather than the client’s name as it was previously. But now I’m having a hard time figuring out how to fix the broken permalink and they don’t seem to be updating.

Is that something that would be a fix for another permalink plugin perhaps?

Would love your thoughts on that. Thanks Richard for your great support!

Alright Richard I think I have figured it out!

I ended up downloading Permalink Manager Lite and then went ‘Tools -> Permalink Manager’ and updated the permalinks there with the titles of our posts. They seem to be connecting now. I will work on adding the ‘View more testimonials’ part and see what I can figure out.

I’ll let you know if I am having trouble with that. Thanks again for your great support. It is definitely appreciated!

    Hey Jeremy / @accessmorocco!

Fantastic – I’m thrilled that you’ve gotten things worked out!

It being fixed by another plugin does make me wonder if something was preventing the permalinks from updating correctly. Usually when people hit the Save button on the WordPress permalinks screen, this forces the permalink rules to update and fixes the issue. Regardless of why that wasn’t working for you, I’m very happy this plugin helped out!

I hope this solution is useful for anyone else reading this thread who encounters a similar issue. I will be sure to note this in the other thread that was originally started.

Thanks again for using our plugin!

    All the best,
    Richard
