Permalink Problems

I am absolutely new at WP, and hardly know what I’m doing. I used to be pretty savvy and know HTML and light Javascript, etc.

I have a theme from an outside company, and it gave me 5 pages – I really only want one. When I type in my url it directs me to the “Home” page. I wanted my url to go directly to the “Blog” page.

So, I deleted the “home” page and now I get a 404 error when I go my url. I imagine this has to do with permalinks from what I could read about them. How can I delete several pages and setup my WP so it automatically opens my “Blog” page when my url is typed in?
