  • You can change permalinks and WordPress will automatically redirect for you. Just be sure your .htaccess file is writable so WordPress can update it.

Hi, you can change your permalinks, and set 301 redirections for your old URL, some plugin can do this for you, I picked one : https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/redirection/

    Hope this helps!

sry i dont want to use a plugin for a small thing. can any one suggest me the redirection code where i only need the year and post name in the url.

As I stated originally, I believe this is built into WordPress. I know for sure it works when changing from default permalink -> custom permalink but alot depends on your server or webhost configuration and also make sure that .htaccess is writable. I would suggest changing the permalink then trying to access a page from your Google results to test it. You can always change it back to your current permalink structure immediately if it doesn’t work ??

Otherwise use the plugin that @flasheur suggested. It is a very good plugin and I have used it.

    Hope that helps ??

Come to think of it…I would probably temporarily use a plugin such as https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/redirection/ just to track any 404’s. A quality plugin will not impact your site negatively.
