    Hi,

I’m the kind of guy that is patient and can spend a lot of time trying to figger out and fix things by my self. But this one I don’t understand.

I’m working on a XL website, and at some point my permalink structure started adding -2 to the ending of my slugs. Like this:

https://www.domain.no/norsk/lysfenomener-2/ – while it should be:

https://www.domain.no/norsk/lysfenomener/ – when, and why does this happen?

I’m using a Month and name based structure, and some scripts and plugins. But most of these where added after this happende. And I’s been a long time now, so I cant really tell when or what caused this.

Anyone? ev. post me some links in the forum. I didn’t find any of relevance.

  • WordPress automatically add a number at the end if the permalink already exist.

Hm, I guess. But why would it already exist? Thanks, it was a usefull hint.

Two posts with the same title published, and for your particular permalink structure, in the same month of the same year would result in identical permalinks.

If that’s not it then I don’t know where the problem is.

Thanks so much Joseph, I was pointed in the right direction ??

I don’t know when or why this have happend, but my slugs/permalink does not correspond with my titles. Maybe it is what you suggest, or maybe I have changed titles at some point.

I’m simply gonna go over my permalink and changes them to reflect their titles.

    Thanks ??

    Case closed.

have you worked on a same-titled post and trashed it?

The post still exists, even if it’s in the trash…..must be deleted permanently

Ehm, maybe I have. Nice info, I didn’t know. Thanks ??

Any further results for this issue? I have deleted the post/page. Also deleted it from the database and still get the same results.

Hi, did you try to go over and correct the corresponding slugs/permalinks?, to check that you still dont have to posts/pages that uses the same slugs in URL.

Just what I can think of right now.

    Fastone,

I did indeed.. What I have come to realize is that wp does not like for you to use just numbers.. for example, I was using https://example.com/2011 , but if I added something to it like test-2011 or a2011 it was fine.. I can only assume it would not let me use just numbers because that would maybe conflict with an id stored in the database, but of course I am fairly new with WordPress and this would just be a guess on my part.

    Thanks for the response.

You maybe right on that. I know WP does have reservations for different kind of code and references thats just for WordPress. That will just create problems if you try to use any of those.

I just learned last time that we have to use unique titles in posts or pages with the same year/month/day(title).
