I have a a lot of pages and a lot of sub-pages on my site (I need to have them running this deep) but because of this the url can sometimes be very long. Is there anyway to get around this. For example I may have:

    testwebsite.com/leisure/sports/rugby/rugby-union

This structure is needed as I have main pages for each of leisure, sports and rugby but the url only needs to be:

    testwebsite.com/rugby-union

You have to change your permalinks. Use your Admin panel -> Settings -> Permalinks. You have it all there. Make sure you have your .htaccess writable.

I understand that’s how you change permalinks but there’s no options for pages.

well, change as i told you and the effect will be for pages as long as for posts.

With all due respect you haven’t told me anything other than I can do it within the permalinks section – which from looking at it and playing with it for two hours you can’t!

I am using pages – not posts and for that reason it doesn’t seem possible to do much with the permalinking of pages within the current Admin of WordPress.
