  • If I change my Permalink Settings from the “Default” to “Month and name”, will that break anything on the site?

    Will my old links to images (featured images…) in posts still work?
    Will hardcoded links I placed in the sidebar and footer still wok?

  • The default URL’s (example.com/?p=21) always work, redirecting to the proper pretty permalinks if set, regardless of what permalink setting you’re using. The URL for actual files, such as images, shouldn’t be affected by your permalink settings. So, everything you described should be OK. The only real way of know though, is to try; you can always switch back.

    If, later, you move from one type of permalinks to another (neither of them being the default ones) that would cause any hardcoded links to break.
