Hi everyone! WordPress has been a big part of my life for years and I’m finally getting on my feet with my blog and getting it how I like. I’ve got myself a WooTheme which has helped me make the place look great but there’s one thing I’d like to change that relates to the permalinks.

At the moment my links are in the format 2012/06/08/sample-post/ but I’d like to know if it’s possible to do a few things with the links.
    1. Can I have it so my links are category/sample-post/
    2. Can I have ./category instead of ./category/category-name/sample-post/

So for example one of my categories is music so I’d like the link ./music/ to list all of my must posts and then if a post is gone into it goes over to ./music/sample-post/

I hope I’ve made myself clear here and not made it as clear as mud! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards, Ben

Thanks for the reply esmi. Not sure how I go about setting the main ./category/ tag though. That’s where I’m totally lost! I’ve managed to figure out the other bit for the posts, but my links are still showing as

./category/music/ for the music category and I just want it as ./music/

    Regards, Ben.

Unless you use a plugin, you still need a category base name. All you can do otherwise is change the base name to something like “topics” or “section”. I also have to point out that I have no idea how reliable (or not) these “remove category base” plugins are.

Okay no problem. Think I’ll probably leave it the way it is then, I have found a plugin that would do the job but it’s not a major problem so probably just as easy to leave it as it is!

    Thanks again esmi.

    Regards, Ben.

    No problem ??
