    Hi there!
I thought it would be a great idea to change all my permalinks from my new site to root/… in stead of root/wp/?page_id=XX. But now I can see my pages in my Dashboard and edit them, but as soon as I want to (pre)view them I get an 404-error that the website couldn′t be found.

Tried to change back the permalinks, but that doesn′t seem to work. What can I do to undo this? Help!!!

Many thanks for your positive reactions ??
    Bart

  • Hi Bart,

If you are able to, you might want to delete the .htaccess file on your host in the root of the file directory. Then go back into your dashboard and re-save your permalinks. This may resolve your issue.

    Good luck!

    Hi Marc!
Thank you for your respons, but unfortunately it didn′t work. Maybe you or anyone else has another suggestion?

    Thank in advance,
    Bart

Would you happen to be willing to let us know the link to your site? Also, are you using any caching plugins? if so, you might want to either disable them or clear out their caching. Sometimes this can cause problems as well.

    Hi Marc!
Off course, but you don′t see much on this domain because the links don′t funktion as they should. You can reach the side and template (but no pages) on https://fysioterapihagfors.se/wp/.

Thank you so much for your effort and time,
    best regards, Bart

P.S: As far as I know I don′t use any cacheing plugins (but I′m not so into that I must say that I′m 100% sure). Maybe you can send me an email on (bart)AD(kila.nl)

It looks like you installed the site in the /wp folder but haven’t set the URLs correctly. Try deleting the .htaccess file again, and do the following:

    – in the admin, go to Settings -> General and set both the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) to https://fysioterapihagfors.se/wp/

    – go to Settings -> Permalink and set the Permalink settings to default (https://fysioterapihagfors.se/?p=123)

Check if your site works now, even though the permalinks are not properly set yet.

If the links work, then change the permalink settings back to Post Name and see if that does the trick.

Wow, you did the trick Senff! Thank you so much (and Marc too!).

I don′t think I will prove again with the permalinks, what a stress ??
But, now I still got your attention, another question: now everything is lying under the /wp map, how can I make sure my index-page is lying under the root fysioterapihagfors.se/index.php. So my patients can type in fysioterapihagfors.se and land on the homepage directly. Can I just move the homepage there or do I need to think of somthing else before i do so.

Thank you so much, you two made my day!!!
