    Hi,

Every time I update Yoast SEO, the permalinks to many translated pages on my website stop working. I use WPML to manage translations.

I’ve already read the explanation by Yoast that “this is not a problem with our plugin,” and the suggestion we turn off all plugins and revert to the original theme etc. I cannot afford to do this, as I don’t have a staging site. However, I must say it only happens with Yoast SEO! I have dozens of plugins, a few of them gets updated every single day, but only when I update Yoast SEO I see many pages turn to 404s.

The fix is actually very simple (It took me a long time to figure this out, though). I need to go to Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks and hit Save, then all is back to normal. (No need to change to another structure, then back to my permalink structure, I just hit Save)

However, I fear that in one Yoast-SEO day I may in a hurry forget this step, only to come back to my computer hours later and find out my website was mostly unavailable.

Here’s a screencast of this issue as it happened today: (Please ignore the 520 error page, courtesy of Cloudflare ??

    Best,
    CB

@cbrandt We do understand that you are not able to perform a conflict check due to the site being live as this would affect the user experience of the site while you are testing. However, we do have instructions on how to perform a conflict check using the Health Check plugin here https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/ which allows you to test disabling plugins/themes in the backend while not affecting the appearance or functionality of the user facing site.

Also, if you believe that issue with your permalinks needing reset is due to a bug in Yoast SEO you can submit an issue report to our developers. We’re actively using the bug tracking on our GitHub repository so your best next step would be to create a new issue for our developers at https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/new. You will need an account to create a new issue. If this is your first bug report, please check out: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-write-a-good-bug-report/.

Don’t forget to include the URL to this conversation in your bug report.
