Permalinks don’t work

  • Hi My permalinks don’t seem to be working. They only work on the default setting. I tried changing them to all of the other options but the same thing keeps happening. When I click on the page it doesn’t load. What could be causing this?

  • Check the Permalinks page for some troubleshooting tips.

    In particular, confirm with your host that mod_rewrite and AllowOverride are both on and enabled.

    Yes that means your host doesn’t allow mod_rewrite by the sound of it…
    However SE can still index your type of URL..
    but if you want keywords in your URL then enter this in the permalinks “custom structure” box..
    /index.php/%postname%/ That should work..let me know how it goes ??

    Err, I didn’t ask you to make any changes. I suggested some things you might check with your host about.

    I also gave you a link to read with more things to check. For instance, that link discusses “Almost Pretty” Permalinks in a bit more detail (continuing from xdesi’s suggestion).
