• I’ve tried various permalink plugins but get 404 errors returned.

I’m trying to use the custom inbuilt permalink option in WordPress for pages (not posts) on a new site. All the support articles appear to refer to posts.

What format should I use in the custom structure field for Permalink settings for pages?

    Thanks.

  • It depends on what do you want to show in your url structure: if you want page/post title you should use /%postname%/ parameter.

Thanks, but my concern is pages, not posts.

    Do I use /%pagename%/parameter ?

if you use built in option, pagename parameter works for both.
Use pagename only if you deal with some dedicated plugins such as all-in-one seo pack or similar.

Thanks, wordprest, that’s working fine, now.

    Can someone please elaborate here?

What is the ‘built in option’. I am trying to append the ID to the link for pages but not sure where or how.

    Thanks.
