• I have an old blog where all posts have editable permalinks.

I have a new wordpress site where the pages permalinks are not editable page by page, why isn’t this on edit by default and how does one set that up so that the page permalinks are editable one by one? Why isn’t this the default behavior while we are at it?

Thank you for pointing me to a solution, the wordpress help page on this issue does not address my question.

  • Check your Permalinks settings.

In General > Permalinks if you have them set to Default the permalinks are not editable, as they are driven by the post ID p=123, not a Pretty URL.

Choose any of the other supplied methods of permalinks and you should see it.
