Permalinks not working and pages somehow not working either

    I usually use Permalinks with just POSTNAME because I have relatively few pages and it looks nice and clean. I also do all the development in the /wp directory and then switch it to the main when done. The permalinks aren’t giving me info to add to HTACCESS anymore (is that a change in the new version?) and now nothing is working. The permalinks are totally not working, making the pages come up as a white screen with:

    Not Found
    The requested URL /recent-articles/ was not found on this server.

    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Which is not my 404 page. And if I set permalinks to the default some of the pages come up with a “coming soon” page that I don’t even have live on the site right now! What’s happening?

    EDIT: Scratch the pages coming up “coming soon” that was a cache issue. However the permalink thing is still happening. What’s up?

    EDIT 2: I copied the HTACCESS content from another site I did on an older version of WP and it worked. Is there some reason that WP is no longer tell me what to add to that file?
