• I’m running windows 2008 r2 server with iis 7.5. When i browse to the permalink page in the admin control panel under settings, The page seems to create a web.config in the root of /wp-admin/ automatically. This is causing a conflict with the web.config file in the root of the site and giving me a 500 server error when in the admin. How do I stop wordpress from creating this web.config file? This just started happening with version 3.5.1.

After going to the permalink, and refresh or trying to navigate to any files under the wp-admin directory will give me a 500 server error until I manually go into the directory on the server and delete the web.config.

    Is this a bug?
