Here is my issue. For some reason, Bloglines (and, I think, My Yahoo) does not want to display my feed at:

    https://www.theoreticalchemist.com/blog/feed/

When you try to subscribe with it there, it doesn’t see anything when you “Preview This Feed”. Note that Google Reader sees this feed just fine.

    But, try subscribing to:

    https://www.theoreticalchemist.com/blog/feed/atom/

and upon clicking “Preview This Feed” it does work.

Moreover, if I turn off permalinks (which I’d rather not), it turns out that Bloglines does like to see whatever is the default RSS link (the one with a ? in it) then.

Now, I already have a support query into Bloglines about this as I suspect it’s their problem, but I was wondering if there is a way to get my site to serve up, say, the atom feed rather than an RSS2 feed?

(Oh and I just discovered that forcing Bloglines to read /feed/rss2 a la https://www.bloglines.com/sub/https://www.theoreticalchemist.com/blog/feed/rss2/ does seem to change the “Preview”.)

  • you could just change the links to one’s that work in your theme’s header.php and footer.php

Hmm…that is kind of a hack, but it does seem to work, I guess. But what if I change themes (or upgrade the one I have)? Would I have to do an s/rss2/atom/ every time?

Also, maybe it’s because I’m a newbie to WordPress, but that seems really hacky for it. Does this mean there isn’t a setting in my Dashboard thing that can’t switch the default feed url from, say, /blog/feed/ to /blog/feed/atom/ ? I know I couldn’t find it, but I also am about 7 days news to WordPress.

    Is there a plugin?

yea it is hacky but the problem is not with wordpress.:>)

Welp, folks, samboll’s hack does indeed work, but apparently Bloglines has silently fixed whatever problem was occurring on their end. Because all of the sudden, my subscription to my blog started working.

So, thanks to samboll and Bloglines, and…
