• Hello,

I recently updated the plugin, and an alert appeared at the top of the WordPress dashboard that is not going away, is there I can/should do to deal with this?

It’s been there for a couple weeks (approximately)

    Here’s the alert

Activity log database update in progress
WP Activity Log is updating the database tables where it stores the activity log. This is needed to upgrade the activity log tables to the new database schema, so the logs can be stored and read more efficiently. The duration of this process varies, depending on the number of events in the activity log. This process runs in the background and won’t affect your website. During the upgrade, you might notice some “null” values in the activity log. This is temporary until the process is complete.

    Hello @mohobook

Thank you for using our plugin.

I am sorry to read about your issue. In update 4.4.0 we have changed the database table schema, hence when you upgrade the plugin to this version the upgrade process runs. For some reason it seems like the upgrade process hung on your setup.

Typically this happens if you upgrade from a relatively older version of the plugin. To fix this, can you please follow the below procedure:

    1) Deactivate and uninstall the plugin (the activity log will be retained, no problem).
    2) Download, install and activate version 4.3.6.
    3) Download, install and activate version 4.4.0 (this will automatically overwrite 4.3.6).

Once you are ready with the above, you can safely upgrade to the latest version.

Can you please let us know if the above works for you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hello,

I have followed your directions (a couple times) and I’m still seeing the alert

    a) I manually installed 4.3.6
    b) I manually installed 4.4.0 (agreed to the overwrite)
    c) Then I did a traditional update to 4.4.1

    Hello @mohobook

Once you upgraded to 4.4.0, did you wait until the upgrade process is finished and the noticed disappeared, or you just upgraded right away to 4.4.1?

If the upgrade process was finished when you upgraded to 4.4.0 the message should have not shown up again once you installed 4.4.1.

If that is not the case, can you please do the same again but wait until the upgrade process finishes before upgrading to 4.4.1?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hello,

I honestly don’t remember, but likely did everything in a continuous flow

This time I waited 5 minutes after manually installing 4.4.0 before updating to 4.4.1, unfortunately the notice will not go away

I came here to report the same issue, which I’ve had for several weeks.

@mohobook were you able to solve it?

    Thank you.

    Hello @mohobook

I am sorry to read that the problem persists. We will need more information from you to troubleshoot this issue, such as the list of cron jobs on your website, an export of some settings from the options table etc.

Since such information is of sensitive nature, can you please send us an email at [email protected] and reference this ticket so we can proceed with the troubleshooting?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I am also having the same issue.
