Since version 3.8.7 of AIOWPS the feature to “permanently block IP addresses from the 404 event list” was added.

Unfortunately this feature is not very well engineered due to the following reasons:

    – the “permanently block”-link is visible nevertheless if the “Blacklist” feature is activated or not
    – clicking on it with the “Blacklist” feature deactivated does “nothing” as far as I could investigate so far

    – if one clicks the “permanently block”-link with activated “Blacklist” feature, the IP-address(es) is/are added to the blacklist, BUT the .htaccess file is not extended with the newly added address(es)

So from my point of view the plugin should offer one of the following functionalities:

    1) do not offer the “permanently block”-link in the 404 events list at all, if the “Blacklist” feature is deactivated

    OR

    2) do automatically turn on the “Blacklist” feature as soon as one adds IP-address(es) via the “permantently block”-link

    AND

    3) update the AIOWPS settings in case option 2) is offered
    4) update the .htaccess file accordingly in case IP-address(es) is/are added

What do you think about these suggestions?
    Am I missing something?

    Thanks,
    Mike
