    No, the permissions should be set for each forum individually. For example, if you set the parent category as private (No Access for guests usergroup), the non-logged-in users will not be able to see the category and the forums of that category, but all topics will be visible in recent topics and posts widgets. Because the forums of that topics are not set “private”.

    Hi @thecatim,
    If the Category permission is set No Access, and the Forum is set to Standard Access or else, the Forum and the Category won’t be visible for the User,
    If the Forum permission is set to No Access, and the Category is set to Standard Access or else, the Category will be visible for the User, but not the Forum.
