• I’m an admin for a site that has a few users that have a very basic understanding of WP. This plugin is PERFECT for them as they don’t need to access the page(s) we built. I give them ‘Author’ privileges. I can see the admin panel for this plugin but they cannot – and as such, they can’t use it. Is there a way to adjust the privileges so that users other than admins can use it?

    Hi @patrickhealy,

Thanks for using Announcer. Sure you can provide access to other user roles. Please use a plugin like https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/user-role-editor/ and set the capabilities you want on the specific user roles like create, edit announcer posts of type “announcer”.

    Thanks,

    Aakash

What are the odds of you guys building that into this plugin so we don’t have to use that one? My experience is that it’s hit or miss in terms of offering the control that us usually necessary?

    Just following up on this.

    Hi Patrick,

As of now there is no plan to add the feature. Since these are site wide announcements, it is mostly admins who create and publish. Other user roles mostly do not take part in this. Most users don’t need this option.

The plugin I mentioned previously exactly solves this problem for specific usecases.

It is from a different author. You can install, allow access for announcer and uninstall it. You don’t need to keep it installed.

    Thanks
