Using Version 1.5.1 situation happened on 2 different hosts:

    • created child theme of twenty twenty three (previous to plugin version 1.5.1) + uploaded
    • add a google font (not local font) using create block theme plugin – works (assets directory was created with font directory inside)
    • tried to add a new directory to assets directory – permission denied
    • unable to delete assets directory – permission denied
    • unable to change permissions on assets directory
    • i am able to add + remove a separate newly created directory in theme folder so I don’t think the child theme permissions are incorrect.

Am I doing something out of sequence or incorrectly?

?Maybe I need to “copy” the original child theme and start again to add google font? Not sure if it would retain the permission issues.

    >>another try with a possible work around- create and upload another child theme of twenty twenty three – then via FTP – create a new directory named assets before trying to add new google font using create block theme plugin – add google font (not a local font) – create a new directory inside assets directory – add a new file to new directory – this seems to work.

    Hi @contentiskey
Thanks a lot for your report. It helped me to identify a situation with the file permissions that can be problematic in some cases as yours.
I already submit a potential fix. I think it will be ready in the next few days and included in the next release of the plugin. So when you update to the next version of the plugin, the directories you create after won’t have this problem you described.

@contentiskey the newest version of the plugin should be working correctly. Please, update the plugin and try it editing a new theme.

I’m marking this as resolved. Please, fell free to re-open if the problem persists.
