Personal Status Page

  • I’d like to see a “Personal Status” page or some such idea. Basically, it would have the ability to connect to all sorts of places that keep track of information about me to provide dynamic info about what I’ve been upto.

    It would include things like the last 5 bookmarks I added to del.icio.us, my presence in AIM; Jabber; GoogleTalk; IRC channels, the last 7 songs I listened to as recorded by last.fm, the last 3 blog post titles, the newest 5 titles from blogs I read from bloglines.com, the newest 2 podcasts from my podnova.com account, my latest posts on a few different phpbb forums and room for modules for anything else.

    I picture the config being something like setting up a profile in a phpbb forum. Is this something that would be a good feature for WP or better off being an entirely different program.

  • Very cool idea, but I envision this being, at best, a plugin and in no way making into core WP functionality.

    The only issue would be that you’d have a list of places to poll for information that could change in an instant. Additionally, it also depends on all of these services providing hooks (through API) to ascertain information about you.
