Petition: Show WP eCommerce we’d make it work

    WP eCommerce:

    — the wonderfully elegant and problem-free WordPress plugin that so many of us prefer to the status quWoo —

A quick look around will tell anyone WP eCommerce seems to have basically died.

How can we thank the pioneering devs and supporters while reviving WP eCommerce?

We convince them to become open source, but while retaining avenues of financial support for them, like contributions as well as royalty-like, voluntary (but ethically compelling) kickbacks from new projects it would allow, that’s how!

Sign now and let’s revive WP eCommerce like a glorious phoenix!

We want to show there is enough support for this idea to write up an official proposal (red tape included) that would include a succinct but clear and noticeable memo in the top of the code, not to be removed per the license, that influenced anyone benefitting from WP eCommerce to contribute to the original (now current) owners by one-time contributions (at least) for single websites using it and for %’s of profit to be transparently pledged to them in cases of white labeling it in any way.

This could both revive the pioneers’ stream of income from WP eCommerce in lieu of it going to unbeneficial seed on the vine, as well as bring in a deluge of eager, new devs to ensure safe and effective updates continue.

Let’s give the less preferable successor another run for its money!

  • Honestly, I’d i’ve been frustrated not to be able to find a solution to software that was once highly thought of. I’ll sign if not for me than for others in the future.

Thanks! Maybe we can get something rolling.
It is so preferable over WooCommerce for such a significant cross section of people. Woo is not polished despite its overpopularity due to publicity. More stuff to pile on is not being polished. Woo is still endlessly buggy aesthetically unless you use certain colors, where I and coworkers had no issues with WP eCommerce.
WP just adopted your colors and worked with your theme instead of alongside it fighting it.
Woo is a nightmare for, for example, someone with a dark-colored theme who is not a major dev or CSS author and who isn’t paying one (none of which was required for WP eCom for any color scheme).
    Thanks again.
