I am using WP mail SMTP. I recently changed the from email address. (Both were gmail.) Now when it sends a message recipients receive an error that says:

    “Be careful with this message
This site has never sent you messages using this email address. Avoid replying to this email unless you reach out to the sender by other means to ensure that this email address is legitimate.”

I don’t think there was a phishing error message before I changed the email address. So the error is being shown to existing customers, not new ones. How can I fix this?

  • Hi @a3132,

When you get a chance, could you please download one of the emails you’re getting error and share with us. This is possibly because reply-to didn’t match the from email or you’re sending emails to yourself, or due to many other factors such as your domain reputation, etc.

    Thanks!

I tested it again and didn’t see an error this time. I do have a different reply-to address though. It is still the email address with my domain. Am I able to change this through the plugin?

    Hi @a3132,

Currently, we don’t have ability to change reply-to from the plugin. I’ve added a note of this feature to consider it down the road as we plan our roadmap for the future. reply to is usually set by the plugin sending the email and if you’d like to, you can also use wp_mail filter to add reply-to header to all the emails.

    Thanks!
