If I buy something on my store, my bank statement / bill will show the “Customer bank statement” field (in settings), and following that my phone number (then a state).

I would like to change the phone number/disable it so as to not show every customer.

My Customer bank statement field is only three words, and changing it doesn’t affect the number appearing. Based on other charges/transactions (separate from stripe/woocommerce) many charges follow this format, but many do not, and the number doesn’t have to be a phone number. I can’t seem to find any option in the payment settings in Woocommerce, or in the Stripe account settings.

  • Hi @coryplc!

    Thanks for reaching out!

Can you please send us a screenshot of what you see here: https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/account you should be able to hide the phone number from your card statement there.

    Hi @crazywickedawesome

I’ve tried exploring here but the options are very limited.
What do you mean “send us”?

    Hi @coryplc,

Thanks so much for sharing that screenshot! That helps clarify things on our end. That screenshot is actually from WooCommerce Payments rather than from the Stripe plugin.

I believe this may be something we need to change on our end for your account, and we want to be sure to protect the privacy of your account details. Go ahead and contact us at WooCommerce.com > My Account > Support. You may need to create an account before you can access that page.

Please also include a link to this forum thread in your ticket. We will be able to help you further there ??

I took this to WooCommerce Support and they were able to get this from Stripe:

The short of it here is that it is actually required by the card networks for an address/phone number to be passed with each charge — this has to do with the Merchant of Record’s responsibility for customer support / disputes. It is then up to the issuing bank for what they decide to display on the customer’s bank statement. To be clear, the issuing bank decided to add the phone/address (in this case country) information to the statement for the charge— nothing actually changed on our end.

I’d imagine there SHOULD be a way to have two phone numbers, one for Stripe to contact you and one they send out to your customers. This probably isn’t an issue if you’re a large enough (small) business to have a dedicated line.
