Photon is a WP plugin for PhpWebGallery – https://phpwebgallery.net/.

It is dead easy but very flexible (something like WP) – I was up, running and trying different options in under 90 minutes including download time, install, adding photos and creating sub-folders (plus RTFM for about 5 minutes) <grin>. Can’t comment on Photon but I looking forward to it.

In the last 2 months I’ve looked at and tested every gallery package ever mentioned on this site. This week,in desperation, I even went back and re-tested Gallery2 & Coppermine but confirmed my view of them as over-engineered – you need an Engineering Post-Doctorate to run those things. Hope that helps eagelwheelie and other users.

I second the notion that Gallery2 needs a little more work to get it to work. I installed it last weekend using Fantastico. The actual installation was smooth. However, getting it to work is a bit difficult, at least for me. I finally thought I new how to upload photos individually and a complete folder, but I don’t see my images, only the filename. Nothing happens when I click on it. That being said, I gave up after trying for a few hours.

But remember, you may have better success and others have.

Well, I tried a few more hours with Gallery2, but still can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.

I also installed the popup gallery. It took a little while to figure out what all the options are that you can change. It is very flexible. I still have one problem in trying to format the gallery correctly, so that it is positioned more to the left.

I ended up going with coppermine photo gallery. I like how it looks and was pretty easy to install.

I’m another user of Gallery2 and WPG2. The integration with WordPress has been fairly smooth.

I never could find anything in a plugin or template that I liked, so I just made a gallery myself with a combination of the lightbox plugin and custom templats/stylesheets…

I use falbum found here: https://www.randombyte.net/blog/ It works with flickr.com.
