I posted question #1 to a resolved issue, so I am reposting here, along with 2 more questions.

I need to display 1 photo per day. So, I am using Photo of the Day feature with the order # set as the overall default as well as the album preference. The numbers assigned to each photo must align with the calendar dates for each month. For ex., photo #1 should appear on Nov. 1, photo #2 on Nov. 2, etc.

It was working at first, but today it is displaying photo #4, rather than photo #12 (for Nov. 12).

Question #1: Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Question #2: I’ve uploaded images to individual, monthly albums that have a sequential order. Will the image from Nov. 30 change to Dec. 1 automatically?

    Question #3:
We are on Eastern Standard Time. How can I make the photo change at midnight on EST?

    thank you, Anne

The calculation is based on the time elapsed starting jan 1 1970 UTC ( the Unix epoch ). You should fill up the sequence with a few dummies to get the day numbers in sequence. I will see if i can make an adjustment for the time zone in the next version.

I tried what you suggested, but it did not work. It only confused matters, as now the photo order # doesn’t work at all. It seems to be stuck on a random sequencing, even though I re-initialized the plug-in.

The next version ( 4.8.4 ) will have the photo of the day display method selction Change every expanded with day of month is order#. The time will be based on the server time. (hopefully not too much different from your local time, we will see…)

That sounds awesome. Thank you for doing that!

One last thing, the photo of the day order number is moving backwards in the sequence (12, 11, 10, 9, etc.), rather than forward. In my experiments, I did select “descending order” at one point, but now it is de-selected. Any chance it is stuck on this setting? If so, how do I re-set that?

No, the descending switch does not affect the photo of the day selecion mechanism. It is just the sequence that finds MySql the fastest.

Table IV-C1 and 2 set the photo order for thumbnail displays and slideshow sequences bu do not affect the potd.

I’ve got both table IV C-1 and IV D-1 set for order #. Are you telling me that neither of these affects potd and there’s currently no way to set the order # for potd? thank you, Anne

I released 4.8.4. Update and you can configure the ordfer# is day of the month in the potd settings page

I’ve installed the update v4.8.4 and configured the potd with order # is day of month. Voila! Image #15 is now showing up (today is Nov. 15). I will monitor and let you know when the image switches over to the next day’s image.

A heartfelt thank you for this excellent new feature. I am very appreciative!

    Hi Opajaap,
The image switches over at 6pm EST.

More importantly, however, is that the image no longer matches up with the day in the month. It worked for 3 days, then switched back to image #1 (for Nov. 1), rather than going to the next day (Nov. 18).

What might be causing this? An incompatibility with another plug-in?

We have “hidden” the site with the “ultimate-coming-soon-page” plug-in, so the public cannot see it while it’s in development. Any problems there? I cleared the cache, refreshed the screen, disabled the plug-in, but nothing helped.

    Thanks.

It was a bug i could not test until now.
Please de-activate the plugin, delete and re-install. I patched it without bumping the revision number.

The time not being 12pm is still an issue.

OK, I de-activated, deleted, and re-installed. Image #20 is now showing up today, which is Nov. 20. My images and settings were intact, so I guess the plug-in database was left alone. In a short while, it should change to Image #21. I’ll continue to monitor….
    Many thanks Opajapp.

    Fixed in 4.8.5
