Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 26738688) (tried to allocate 4096 bytes) in /homepages/5/d152765985/htdocs/sandiego-blog/wp-includes/media.php on line 937

That is the error I get when I try to upload images to my blog – sdrocksnroads.com . This has started only today and so far only with this blog. Every image I try to upload gives me an error message, yet when I check the Media Library, the image is there. I would like to upload photos but can’t with this error. How can I fix this?

Its odd as this hasn’t been an issue before. Someone else was also able to upload an image to my site without issue.

I tried to modify the memory and it still doesn’t work. The media loader, in any form, stops at “crunching” with every upload. When I check the media library, the file appears, but has problems (such as unable to keep its caption). I have tried to upload the same files to my other blog and have no problems there.

Are you trying to upload a particularly big image? Ie. bigger than you’d normally upload.

File size didn’t seem to be the issue. I reinstalled WP and it seems to be functioning alright at this point. Thank you all for your help.

Still having the same problem… seems I may have to edit the php.ini file or the .htaccess file, though I don’t know how to.

Contact your hosting provider, they’ll handle it.

Problem solved. My solution was to change packages on my host. It seems that PHP wasn’t given a high enough limit on that package. I changed it, now it functions well.
