photocrati_ajax 301 on image upload page

@alevith – Does this happen if you make your entire site HTTPS?

@cais – No, when i put the whole site into HTTPS, it works. My hosting gives us the ability to force the site into HTTP for pages that do not need the security. When I turned that off, the admin worked.

Any idea why the front end https would effect the backend admin? Do we need to keep the whole site in HTTPS? I would rather not if we can avoid it. I only have one page that needs the SSL and the admin.

Side note, the Home url and the site url are both https.

@alevith – If you are using HTTPS in one place there is not reason not ot make it consistently used everywhere on the site.

By “forcing” the HTTPS to HTTP you are essentially breaking the path/URL structures that NextGEN Gallery expects as it starts as HTTPS in the administration side and then you change it (even if only to force it to be insecure?!) when rendering the visitor viewable pages.

The most obvious issues of this setup will be the path to photocrati_ajax being incorrect.

Just the visitor viewable pages are being forced to HTTP from HTTPS. Those pages are running just fine.

The whole site is https. The server is forcing the http on the front end, before files load. But the settings show https. So when the admin loads, its https. When the visitor vieable pages load, its http.

Will this still effect photocrati_ajax? Even if its only throwing errors in the admin, where its fully secure with no force.

@alevith – You already noted that having the entire site in HTTPS works fine, that is why I am recommending leaving the whole site in HTTPS. Is there a necessity to have the visitor viewable pages not in HTTPS?

Yes, thank you for your recommendation. However, This is not the setup we want. I have a necessity to have my visitors not in https except for the one page that requires it.

If i have my admin in https and my front end in http, does your plugin break when trying to upload images?

If so, then thats fine, i will work around it. Just needed some incite.

@alevith – Different configurations and server settings may affect things differently. What works best for your instance may require some trial and error troubleshooting if you want to keep your HTTP and HTTPS settings as they are.
