Photolux theme wont allow grid template and text block on home page

I recently took over managing a very old Photolux theme 2011 site. It is not coming up here as existing in www.ads-software.com. Its coming up in themeforest, but the previous hosters have not got the theme licence anymore. So I dont think I can approach the photolux theme authors for help. There is nothing in Photolux documentation. So the problem is this: I clicked wordpress update, and theme, plugins. In doing so, lost the home page customisation that allowed the home page intro content, to appear above the post grid (which is using Grid Gallery Template). So now, we choose Grid Template, and get the grid only. Choose the default template, and we get the home page text content only. So we want both grid and text to appear. How to do this? The site has no Content Builder, yikes. Thats what the problem is. What seems logical to me is use the default template, then insert some links to the grid which i will move to another page.

If we cant get the both elements displaying on home page, then I will have to split up these elements onto two pages. Use Default Template for home, to display the intro text.
Then put some new links from text box to the new portfolio page, which I have just created. That page has the Grid template enabled and it is coming up just fine. Visitors would no longer get the grid on the home page though. But its better than nothing…
