Photonic Create / Edit Icon disappeared from Divi Visual Builder

Umm… I don’t think the Photonic button was ever present on Divi’s builder. Divi replaces the standard WP UI with its own and kills the button in that process. I believe the approach followed by users for Divi is to open a post in the standard editor, generate the gallery, and copy the shortcode to a Divi-enabled layout.

Ummm.. yes it most definitely was present and working prior to a recent update to Divi, so they broke it. The workaround works but it’s a time consuming PITA, be nice if they fixed it please.

Yes, well Elegant Themes have been entirely useless (und unsympathetic) in addressing the problem.

I’ve been in touch with Elegant themes via their support portal and I got a reply within a cople of hours. They’ve asked me for more information which I have now given so I assume they are now looking into it. I’ll update here if/when I get more info.

So far appears it’s not possible to fix. I’ve not quite finished with the exchange of emails, so we’ll see if this has a better outcome.

I think it’s fair to say that Elegant have not been unsympathetic during our email exchange. So far they have been polite and quick to respond. The last email I had from them is “I added this as a compatibility issue to be investigated by our devs”. It remains to be seen if this will end in a solution, we shall see I guess.

I have the same problem. Before ,the Photonic gallery option was showing on the text module, now has completely disappeared and I don’t know what else to do!

Well 4 weeks have passed since I got in touch with elegant and it appears they’ve “forgotten” about it, shame. It’s a pain in the wotsit, but to get around it, I have to start a draft page or post, NOT use divi builder, and when I’ve built my gallery, copy the shortcode into my divi generated page.

When I last Googled, I found that Divi has something called a Sidebar module. Is it possible to use that with a Photonic widget? My guess is “no”, but it might be worth a try.

Basically, a few versions back I introduced a widget, which can be included via Elementor or Beaver. Considering that I had to put in some specific code to ensure that the right scripts were getting enqueued, my hunch is that it will not work with Divi (I cannot test with Divi because I have no license for it).

As you suggested, I have created a non-Divi page where I create all the Photonic galleries, then copy the shortcode to Divi page

Not ideal, but not so bad either
