Photos and menu broken

  • Hi,
    My WP was having issues, since I upgraded on Nov. 9th. I first thought it was Jetpack, deleted it and site was running faster.

    still issues happened. I had to powercycle it 3x a day, every so often. I got ride of W3 Cache, found a new cache program yesterday.

    This morning around 6:40AM, site was being slow. I powercycled it and now it is messed up. Images are ‘broken’.. from my backend, I see them when I right click on image, other wise it is a grey page for each image lol.
    Menu, the links had disappeared.

    I disabled plugins, and reenabled plugins. Nothing . What is going on ? #sadface

    anyway:

    I did ” Regenerate Thumbnails”
    and said all images cannot be found. I can upload images but then it gives a blank image.

    Well this is interesting, I right-clicked the image in my media library and it says ”
    wp-includes/images/media/default.png

    when I clicked on the image address, it shows up (wp-content/uploads/2016/12/peet-2.jpg)

    Power cycling your server can do all sorts of bad things to the file system and database. If you’re going to reboot, shut it down properly.

    Please provide a link to a page on your site where we can see image errors. Thanks.

    It would also be helpful if you described your hosting environment.

    I have Digital Ocean and there is no image error showing up. I reg. thumbnails and got this :

    the menu is also messed up .. but the images are my main issue.

    Failure to resize….

    Check df -h. Are any partitions low on space?

    Do you have gd, ImageMagick, php-imagick and php-gd installed?

    As you’ve been power cycling, check your lost+found directories on each partition

    The proper way to powercycle is to do

    sudo shutdown -h now

    When the site is down, the use the DO control panel to power it back on.

    Yes, in order for WP to manipulate images.

    I have been using WP for years and I only used what was given to me minus adding plugins.. it was a valid question lol.

    I cannot find it in my WP, I am guessing I should reinstall these ?

    also before Digital Ocean (my husband put it on there) I was with Go Daddy. I can’t reach my husband to help me as he is away on a business trip. I am stuck lol but on the brightside, I am learning how to do it on my own. I am frustrated that I cannot figure it out lol

    What operating system are you using on your droplet?

    If you look in wp-content/uploads/ do you see the images you upload *as well as* the derivative images?

    works (as it did earlier)
    but when click on ‘add image’, it is a grey piece of paper icon . that is how it is for all of the images.

    do you see a file called something like peet-2-150×150.jpg (i.e., a thumbnail) in the same directory?
