    Hi Sybre,

I have the Origin extension activated (and it has been for several months), but my photos are still showing up in on the regular pages of Google search (as opposed to image search) as a separate entry/page.

I posted a photo above that I just came across when searching for something else, but I’ve come across others, too. Isn’t that extension supposed to prevent that from happening or is there something else I should be doing?

If you recall, we had an issue with the Head, Footer, and Post extensions affecting my Open Graph images. Could it also be affecting this, too?

    Thank you for your assistance!

    Best wishes,

    Lisa

    Hi @bluebonnet,

I see the page you’ve mentioned is in Google Search.
This shouldn’t be happening but I think you’ve already found the cause: I see you’ve applied noindex to those pages already.

By default, TSF adds the noindex tag to all attachment pages. You can find this option under “Robots Meta Settings” on the “SEO Settings Page”. When enabled, these pages will (eventually) be removed from Google Search.

Attachment pages don’t hold a lot of SEO value by their very nature; they won’t rank well. So, if I were you, I’d just let everything stay the way it is. They’ll be purged from Google’s index eventually.

    Some clarification on Origin:

The Origin extension redirects visitors who encounter the WordPress attachment page.
It doesn’t redirect visitors who encounter the direct attachment URL.

The attachment needs to have a parent post attached to it before Origin can do its work.
You can verify this by clicking on the image in your “WordPress Media Library”, you should see “Uploaded To” attached to it as exemplified in the image below.
    Uploaded to example

When Google encounters an image — albeit through meta tags or directly from the page — they’ll store it to be used in image search. robots.txt could prevent that from happening, but it isn’t Origin’s purpose nor do I recommend doing so as it lowers exposure.
